Liveblog: The March for Jobs and Freedom (50 years later)

As I watch live coverage of the 50-year anniversary of the March on Washington, it occurs to me that some others may be watching also. It's just so incredible that we all are still fighting for the dream of equality. Hence, a liveblog...

My birthmother was pregnant with me during that piece of history (with regret, I cannot brag of actually being there in utero, as Stephen Colbert does.)

Eric Holder, first black attorney general under the first black president, spoke a few minutes ago. As Melissa Harris Perry said, history is being made as we watch.

I hope you get a chance to tune in, if only for a bit.

Dr. Martin Luther King's dream continues....

12:02 PM PT: and so the march concludes with a prayer as did the 1963 march...numerous signs about racial profiling, voting rights, stand your ground, stop/frisk. and of course, justice for trayvon. two of the most moving speakers for me were sabrina fulton (trayvon's mother) and rep. john lewis.

i hope lawmakers take notice. there will be more marches and protests and sit-ins, and singing in capitol rotundas for equality and justice.
